These are some of the scholarships available for international students to study in the UK in 2023:

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDY

  1. Clarendon Oxford Scholarship

Oxford, United Kingdom

Financial Coverage: Fully funded

Eligibility: When you apply for graduate study at Oxford University, you are automatically considered for a Clarendon scholarship.

Selection Criteria: The academics select the candidates according to their various fields, based on great academic records, future potential, aptitude and student motivation. All these must be shown in their study application.

Application Deadline: December and January of every year. Successful candidates will be contacted at the end of April.

  1. Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship

Financial Coverage: Fully funded.

Eligibility: Applicants must be B.Sc. holders with a nationality from any of the Commonwealth countries.

How To Apply: Applicants must fill out the application form containing their details, academic records and courses at the host university. Attached to this form will be statements containing study plans, development impact and post-study outreach, and how you have developed professional networks.

Selection Criteria: Candidates are selected based on the strengths of their application.

Application Deadline: Applications are currently closed and will be reopened in 2023.

  1. GREAT Scholarships

Financial Coverage: Fully funded.

Eligibility: As an applicant, you must be a citizen of Nigeria, have an undergraduate degree, and must have applied to any of the institutions the scholarship covers. You must be motivated, have an interest in the proposed subject area, meet the English language requirement of the UK HEI and establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment.

How To Apply: Applicants must fill out the application form on their desired university’s website. 

Selection Criteria: Candidates are selected based on the strengths of their application.

Deadline: Application deadline varies by institution.

  1. University Of Sussex Graduate UK Scholarship 

Financial Coverage: Partial funding of £3,000

Eligibility: Applicants must have accepted an offer for a place on an eligible Master’s, either part-time or full-time, at the University of Sussex, to start in September 2023.

How To Apply: Eligible applicants are therefore expected to register interest in this scholarship through the postgraduate application system when they accept an offer of a place to study.

Selection Criteria: Candidates are selected based on outstanding academic records, future potential and aptitude and student motivation. All these must be shown in their study application.

  1. Chevening Scholarships

Financial Coverage: Fully funded.

Eligibility: Applicants should be high-calibre graduates with the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary for leadership. Chevening Scholars come from over 150 countries worldwide (excluding the USA and the EU). 

How To Apply: All Chevening applicants must submit their education documents, references, and one unconditional UK university offer to the application website.

Selection Criteria: Candidates are selected based on the strengths of their application.

Deadline: Applications are currently closed and will be open in August 2023.

  1. Think Big Postgraduate Award

University of Bristol, UK

Financial Coverage: Funding between £13,000 and £26,000 for tuition fees and may also include £3,000 for living costs.

Eligibility: Applicant must have applied to start any one-year full-time postgraduate course, or two-year programmes – Social Work (MSc) and Law (MA) at the University of Bristol, starting in September 2023.

How To Apply: Applicants must apply using the international scholarships online application form. Here, personal details will be provided alongside academic records and questions as regards skills, personal achievements, career goals and study plans must be answered.

  1. Edinburgh Doctoral College Scholarships

University of Edinburgh, UK

Financial Coverage: The scholarship covers the university tuition fee as well as a stipend of £17,668.

Eligibility: Applicants must have already applied for admission to a full-time or part-time on-campus PhD research programme of study at the university. Applicants must be of outstanding academic merit and research potential. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, a UK first class or 2:1 honour degree at the undergraduate level or the international equivalent.

How To Apply: Applicants must fill out the online scholarship application form on their application portal.

Selection criteria: Candidates are selected based on outstanding academic records, future potential and aptitude and student motivation. All these must be shown in their study application.

Deadline: The application deadline varies based on the school/deanery being applied to.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS FOR UNDERGRADUATES IN THE UK

  1. International Future Leaders Scholarship

Royal Holloway University of London

Financial Coverage: £6,000 off first-year tuition fees.

Eligibility: International fee status, Expected or final A-level grades of AAB or UK and international equivalent. Hold a current conditional or unconditional offer to study any undergraduate degree at Royal Holloway.

How To Apply: Applicants will need to write a statement of 400 words explaining why they should be selected for the scholarship. The statement will contain academic achievements, why they have chosen the course they applied for, how they have demonstrated leadership skills, and their future goals and aspirations.

  1. Think Big Undergraduate Award

University of Bristol, UK

Financial Coverage: Funding between £6,500 and £13,000 for tuition fees and may also include £3,000 for living costs.

Eligibility: Applicant must have applied to start any full-time undergraduate course, excluding Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science at the University of Bristol, starting in September 2023.

How To Apply: Applicants must apply using the international scholarships online application form. Here, personal details will be provided alongside academic records and questions as regards skills, personal achievements, career goals and study plans must be answered.

Selection Criteria: Candidates are selected based on the strengths of their application.

  1. International Academic Excellence Scholarship

University of Plymouth

Financial Coverage: 50% off tuition fees in the first year and successive years if a 70% overall grade is achieved.

Eligibility: Applicants must have an outstanding academic record, meet the university’s English language requirements and should have a conditional/unconditional offer from the university.

How To Apply: Applicants must fill out an application form available on the school’s website, alongside a personal statement.

Selection Criteria: Candidates are selected based on the strengths of their application.

Deadline: 31 May 2023.

  1. Vice-Chancellor’s Undergraduate Scholarship

Robert Gordon University

Financial Coverage: Full first-year tuition fees.

Eligibility: Applicants are expected to apply, or must have received a conditional/unconditional offer to study full-time at RGU on campus.

How To Apply: Applicants must have received an offer from Robert Gordon University for an undergraduate course before submitting a scholarship application form, including a 500-word statement of support. The Scholarship Panel would expect applicants to highlight why they should be considered for the award.

Selection Criteria: Candidates are selected based on the strengths of their application.

  1. Global undergraduate scholarships

University of Lincoln

Financial Coverage: £2,000 for the tuition fee for every year of study.

Eligibility: The scholarship is open to qualified international applicants for undergraduate programmes commencing in September/October 2023 or January/February 2024.

How To Apply: All applicants for the undergraduate programme at the University of Lincoln are automatically considered. Successful candidates will be notified. 

Selection Criteria: Students must meet the entry requirements for their intended undergraduate programme at the University of Lincoln. In addition to meeting the above criteria, prospective students must have applied to the University of Lincoln before the relevant deadline outlined below.

  1. Africa Undergraduate Excellence Award

University of Nottingham

Financial Coverage: Covers £2,000 to £6,000 of tuition fees in the first year.

Eligibility: Applicants must be citizens of any country in Africa and hold an offer to begin any full-time undergraduate degree programme at the University of Nottingham in September 2023. 

How To Apply: Applicants are to apply through the scholarships section of the university website after they have received an offer for undergraduate study. 

Selection Criteria: Candidates are selected based on the strengths of their application.

7. International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship 2023

University of Sheffield 

Financial Coverage: 50% of the tuition fee in the first year.

Eligibility: Applicant must have received an offer for a course studied in full at the University of Sheffield.

How To Apply: Applicants are expected to fill out an online application form on the university website.

Selection Criteria: A panel of senior members of staff will select the strongest applications and will be looking at a clear rationale for the course of study, articulated future ambitions that relate to the degree and a strong academic profile.
